When we talk about Ibiza, we are talking about Dalt Vila, the historic centre of the city. It was founded in the Phoenicians, and its origins date back to the 7th century BC and during its 2,600 years of life it has witnessed the passage of different civilisations and cultures, been the victim of pirate attacks and conquests, the scene of fratricidal wars and the guardian of the island's historical memory.
It is this historical heritage that led to it being declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1999.
